MEET THE OWNER
Jeff started his construction career in Bloomington Indiana at the age of 19. He started with residential concrete and framing and then commercial remodeling and everything in between. By age 23 he was hired as a superintendent building large restaurants in Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Ohio. After having of enough of traveling, he moved to Atlanta, then to Jasper. After building Mrs. Winners in 60 days, he made friends, as well as partners, and settled in while starting Appalachian Development around 1985 and incorporating as Appalachian Design & Dev. Inc. in 1990. Appalachian Design has provided a wonderful career and allowed him to raise a family with my wonderful hard-working wife Richie.
Both daughters attended Pickens County, GA. schools and graduated from UGA with degrees in Engineering and Finance.
As the need for alternative ways to build homes has increased, he created Real Steel Homes as an alternative. From mud and straw to old tires to shipping containers, he has heard it all. He took the best systems from 40 years in commercial construction and applied them to residential construction. Using pre-engineered steel provides many benefits and infinite possibilities for spectacular commercial buildings or homes.
